Practical Drill of the 2025 Mining Dam Emergency Action Plan (PAEBM)

On June 13, Itaminas carried out the drill for its Mining Dam Emergency Action Plan (PAEBM). This is a mandatory, preventive exercise carried out to prepare both the surrounding population and the response agencies involved for an emergency situation.

It is important to highlight that the drill is part of a training exercise and poses no real risk. The company’s dam operates in full compliance with all safety requirements and regularly undergoes inspections and certifications by the competent authorities.

Representatives from several Itaminas departments took part in the activity, along with state and municipal Civil Defense, the Military Police, the Fire Department, as well as technical teams and community members. The partnership between the company, communities and public agents strengthens the prevention model and enables a faster, more organized response should an adverse event occur.

This type of simulation is of great importance to ensure everyone knows exactly how to act in an emergency, even though the structure meets all stability requirements and has multiple layers of control and ongoing assessment.

It bears repeating: the drill is part of a fictional scenario, designed precisely to prepare communities, companies and authorities for a potential emergency. Transparency, safety and prevention are at the heart of Itaminas’ actions, and the company remains committed to adopting the best risk management practices and working alongside communities to minimize impacts and provide a fast, effective response if ever needed.
