Itaminas, in partnership with the Sarzedo City Government, runs the “Um Pomar no Meu Quintal” (“An Orchard in My Backyard”) program, which distributed seedlings of various fruit plants to the population
On September 23, the Sarzedo community experienced a day of interaction with the environment. Itaminas sponsored the event “Meio Ambiente na Praça – Pomar no Meu Quintal” (“Environment in the Square – Orchard in My Backyard”), held at Praça da Estação – Plataforma de Cultura, located on Rua Eduardo Cozac, in the city center, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The event featured a wide range of attractions aimed at educating and inspiring sustainable practices. Highlights included the free distribution of fruit plants, where each resident had the chance to take home up to two species. The seedling options were varied, ranging from pêra-rio orange and serra d’água orange to acerola, Tahiti lime, pitanga (Brazilian cherry), and uvaia (a native Brazilian fruit), totaling approximately 1,500 seedlings. A gesture that revives the importance of growing fruit species in your own backyard or in other easily accessible spaces.
SEMAS: Environmental projects and education – Vermicomposting Workshop;

To make the experience even more special, the Sarzedo Municipal Band gave an engaging musical performance, combining joy and awareness.
An additional highlight was the presence of the totems from Inhotim’s “Ser do Cerrado” program. This partnership enriched the event, giving attendees valuable information about preserving the Cerrado and its biodiversity.
To keep everyone energized, Itaminas also handed out a delicious snack, adding a touch of comfort and satisfaction to the event. The initiative strengthened the community’s bond with nature and highlighted the importance of sustainable practices in everyday life.
In addition, Itaminas’ physical education instructor gave health tips and an experimental class for everyone present.
