On May 24, 2024, Itaminas held an External Emergency Drill with the Sarzedo community.
With the goal of testing the effectiveness of the PAEBM (Mining Dam Emergency Action Plan) and in compliance with dam-safety legislation, Itaminas organized a Dam Emergency Drill. The aim was to prepare residents, ensuring everyone knows how to act in emergency situations.
Although Itaminas’s dams pose no risk to the population, carrying out such drills is essential. It is crucial that the community knows the siren signals, escape routes, and meeting points, fostering a culture of safety.
During the simulated exercises, aspects such as the audible warning system and the time needed for people to reach the meeting points are evaluated.
Itaminas plans to sound the sirens already at emergency level 2, warning residents in advance so they can evacuate their homes until the situation is safe.
The safety of the population and of employees is a fundamental principle for Itaminas, which ensures that its dams pose no risk whatsoever.
