From September 17 to 19, Itaminas’s Environmental Department held an Informational Exercise with employees, providing updates on the company’s dams
Informational Exercises are extremely important to Itaminas, as they clearly explain the procedures described in the PAEBM (Mining Dam Emergency Action Plan). The PAEBM is a technical document that identifies the actions to be taken in the event of a dam failure. Informational Exercises must be held once every six months, so that all employees stay aware of every detail regarding Itaminas’s dams.
We currently have 2 dams in use, one for water (B1) and the other, which previously held tailings and is now undergoing decommissioning (B4).
Informational Exercises must alert everyone on how to act in the event of a possible failure. All meeting points and available escape routes at the company are communicated.

In addition to the Informational Exercise, Itaminas holds an Internal Dam Emergency Drill once a year, in which each employee moves to the meeting point closest to their post after the sirens are triggered.

To top it off, on September 20 we held the hypothetical internal drill. With the participation of Sarzedo’s Municipal Civil Defense and the State Civil Defense, we reinforced the importance of internal training for the operational readiness of our Emergency Action Plan. These drills are essential to ensure our employees and partners are properly prepared, allowing everyone to know how to act quickly and efficiently in risk situations. Through them, we continuously improve our response capacity and safety, protecting lives and the environment.
