Itaminas holds PAEBM Guidance Seminar with the Sarzedo community
Itaminas, in partnership with the Sarzedo Civil Defense, held the Guidance Seminar on the Mining Dam Emergency Action Plan (PAEBM) on May 11 and 12, targeting the following neighborhoods: Engenho Seco, Brasília, Cinira de Freitas, Centro, and Riacho da Mata.
The seminar took place at Instituto Itaviva, and the initiative aimed to clarify the PAEBM and provide guidance on how to act in emergency situations involving the structure.
The seminar is an opportunity to engage in dialogue and present to the communities how the company manages geotechnical safety processes, and it is one of the foundations for preparing practical emergency drills.

To bring even more safety and make use of all available resources, Itaminas adopted the use of filter presses, which filter all the tailings and still ensure water is available for the whole company.
The solution has brought positive results in Itaminas’s efforts to promote sustainable mining, since the technology makes it possible to replace tailings dams with dry stacking using the filter press, optimizing processes and reducing operating costs and water consumption, recovering nearly 9,000 m³ of water per day.
